New Broadband Mini VSAT

Launched seven years ago, the mini-VSAT broadband network was the first to leverage the capabilities of spread spectrum technology to provide global multi-megabit services to ships at sea with small, powerful antennas.

Providing the opportunity to take full advantage of the VSAT service – namely, speed and economy – by installing only compact and affordable on-board antenna systems, has become a truly winning strategy for mini-VSAT. Therefore, it is not surprising that mini-VSAT Broadband has become a best-seller among marine VSAT services.

Encouraged by this success, KVH has created the next generation of mini-VSAT Broadband Network. Using ACSM technology (adaptive coding, expansion, and modulation), network bandwidth has tripled over the past year. More efficient transmission technology, enhanced satellite throughput and automatic updates for the entire installed base of antenna systems – all these have become the basic principles of a network that continues to provide high-quality services.

TracPhone Vip Antenna Systems
The new KVH product line – the TracPhone Vip series – includes compact antenna systems that are even more powerful and easier to install than their predecessors. They are equipped with the new integrated ICM (Integrated CommBox Modem).

A simple 2U format under-module module was developed taking into account the need to provide optimized transmission and the ability to remotely control the network on board the vessel. This unit also serves as a hub for receiving, storing and distributing content such as electronic maps, weather alerts, news, and even television shows and films.

IP-MobileCast Service
KVH also introduced the new IP-MobileCast service, due to which large multimedia files, map databases, high-resolution weather data files, and training programs will be transferred. The transfer of this and other content will be carried out immediately to all ships of the fleet, and not individually to each ship. It is thanks to this that the cost of content distribution will be reduced.

Data required to improve sailing planning will be delivered to ships. These data will help captains save fuel and reduce gas emissions into the atmosphere;
